Knits and Leather + Tips on Winter Style

I know dressing for colder temps can get a bit boring.  Redundant.  Same sweaters and jeans everyday.  Today I'll be sharing some tips on how to spice up that combo for a more cool 😎 trendy look.

While planning your cold weather outfit, try to incorporate these pieces:

Texture
Layers
Accessories
Unique Footwear
"Stand Out" Outerwear

One of my favorite looks to recreate is leather paired with knits.  It's such an easy outfit and it looks chicer than the normal t-shirt and jeans.  (Enter my tip on texture.)  When I say texture, what I mean is, try wearing pieces that are different fabrics and finishes.  Leather is a great option because it's easy to wear and keeps you warm.  Try incorporating it with pants, shorts, and skirts. (Don't forget the tights!)  Another great Winter texture is suede.  Zara has some great suede leggings and skirts.

Layers are obvious for Winter.  I mean, we gotta stay warm.  Try layering with collared shirts and turtle necks for more of a chic put together look.  You can add them under sweaters and even under Spring/Summer dresses to transition them into Winter.

Accessories are the best way to show off your personal style.  Try layering necklaces, adding hats (like wide brim hats, berets, and cabbie hats), accentuating your shape by adding a belt, or by adding a great handbag.

Now, when you're all bundled up does your outfit even count?  At this point all that matters are your shoes and coat.  Your outfit can be what you slept in, lets be honest.  Investing in great stylish shoes and outerwear are important in keeping you warm and fashionable during Winter.  Platform shoes, booties, OTK boots, are all great options.  Outerwear can also be fun.  There are so many options.  You can go with a classic or try something trendy like a bright fur or teddy coat.

Just remember that style is personal.  Wear what you love.  Hopefully these tips will help out when you don't know what to wear or maybe give you inspo to try something new.
